What ties together my writing is that I am passionate about telling stories that capture the human experience. The idea for How People Get Their Politics was more than a decade in the making as I watched the United States reach unsustainable levels of division, beginning in 2008. I am also the author of Murphy's Miracle: One Dog's Wild Journey, a story inspired by the miraculous return of a beloved golden retriever who spent two years lost in the Sierra Wilderness. It was a story I first covered in 2014 for California's oldest newspaper, the Mountain Democrat.
I live in Northern California with my husband and four kids (one is technically not a kid any longer!). I have been a high school English teacher, a stay-at-home mom, a journalist, and an author. Working for my area newspaper taught me many things...most notably... that journalists have a responsibility to report the facts only and also that everybody has a story.
